Privacy, Safety & Intellectual Property
Last updated: July 2026
In short
- ✓We do not collect any personal information from children. The learning app has no child accounts.
- ✓The only thing this website collects is a parent's email, and only if you choose to join early access.
- ✓No ads. No third-party advertising trackers. We never sell your data.
- ✓Quran audio is voiced by verified human reciters only — never AI.
- ✓No dark patterns: no loot boxes, no pressure timers, no guilt-driven streaks, no endless autoplay.
This page is written in plain language on purpose. It is our honest description of how we handle privacy, safety, and content — not legal advice.
1. Privacy by design
Bayan Kids is built to collect as little as possible. In its current stage, the learning app has no child accounts and asks children for no name, email, age, or location.
What we do NOT collect
- Personal information from children
- Names, ages, or locations of children
- Data sold or shared for advertising
- Behavioural profiles for ad targeting
What we may collect (from parents)
- A parent's email — only if you submit the early-access form
- Basic technical/security logs from our hosting provider
2. This website (early access)
When you enter your email in our "Join early access" form, that email is sent to and stored by our form provider, Formspree, and forwarded to us so we can contact you about Bayan Kids.
- What we collect: the email address you type in (nothing else is required).
- Why: to notify you about early access, pilot invitations, and launch news.
- Processor: Formspree (form handling) and Cloudflare (website hosting and security), each under their own privacy terms.
- How long: we keep your email until you ask us to remove it, or until you unsubscribe — whichever comes first.
- Your choice: joining is voluntary, and you can leave at any time (see "Your choices" below).
We use your email only to contact you about Bayan Kids. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
3. The learning app
The app is designed to run on your device. A child's progress — stars, badges, and the growing learning garden — is saved locally in your browser or device storage (localStorage / on-device). This information is not sent to or stored on our servers.
Parental gate
Any exit from the child's learning area — such as settings, contacting us, or external links — is protected by a parental gate (a simple task for adults) so children do not reach outside content without a parent's involvement.
4. Children's privacy (COPPA)
The U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) governs the online collection of personal information from children under 13. Because Bayan Kids is designed not to collect personal information from children and stores a child's progress only on the device, we aim to avoid triggering these data-collection obligations in the first place.
If our practices ever change in a way that would involve collecting a child's personal information, we will update this policy and obtain verifiable parental consent as required.
5. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have rights over your personal information, including the right to know what we hold, to request its deletion, and to opt out of any sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information. To exercise any right, contact us using the details below.
6. Digital wellbeing — no dark patterns
- No loot boxes, mystery rewards, or anything resembling gambling.
- No countdown timers designed to create pressure or urgency.
- No punishing streaks or guilt-driven notifications when a child stops.
- No endless autoplay — learning ends when the activity ends.
- Stars and badges are earned by real learning, never by time spent on screen.
7. Content authenticity & intellectual property
The Quran text
Quranic text is shown in the Uthmani script of the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran (Madinah), used in accordance with the Complex's terms. We do not alter any letter or diacritic of the text. We describe the Complex as the source of the text; this does not imply the Complex endorses or has approved Bayan Kids.
Recitations
All Quran audio consists of recordings by verified human reciters, used under licence. We will never use AI-generated Quran audio, under any circumstances.
Our brand and materials
The Bayan Kids name, logo, designs, geometric (non-figurative) visuals, and learning games are the intellectual property of Bayan Kids and are protected under applicable law.
8. Data retention & security
We keep parent emails only as long as needed for early access and launch communication, and delete them on request. We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we hold; emails submitted through the form are held by Formspree under their own security practices.
9. Your choices
- Leave the list: ask us to remove your email at any time, and we will delete it.
- Clear app data: because the app stores progress on your device, clearing your browser/app storage removes that data immediately.
10. Simple terms of use
By using this website or the Bayan Kids app you agree to use it for personal, educational, family purposes. Bayan Kids is an educational aid and is not a substitute for a qualified teacher or formal Quran instruction. The service is provided "as is," without warranties. To the extent permitted by law, Bayan Kids is not liable for indirect or incidental damages arising from use. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA. We may update this page from time to time; the "last updated" date shows the latest version.
